Saving your work
It is important that you save your work on a regular basis. Whilst some application have an autosave feature this should not be relied upon.
Files can be saved to:
- your personal file space on the Active Directory (U:)
- a USB device such as a memory key/stick
You should avoid saving work to the hard disc (C:) or desktop as any files created here are likely to be erased when the PC is next used.
Printing your work
The Library provides basic A4/A3 monochrome and colour printing/copying facilities. High quality print and copy facilities, of particular importance in the production of dissertations, theses, posters, etc. are available from Design and Print Services.
The Library has eight combined printer/photocopiers (known as Multi-fuction products or devices). Four of these are located in the Open3 area on the entrance level, one in the high demand area on the entry level, two on level two and one of level one of the building. All the Library Lab PCs are set by default to print to these units.
When you print, your job will be held in a paused queue until you log in to one of the printer/photocopiers. A list of print jobs will then be displayed on the touchscreen of the unit. Simply press on the jobs you want to print and then press to the "print" button on the bottom-right of the screen. When you have finished printing press on the "logout" button on the bottom-left of the touchscreen.
Before being able to print you will need to purchase printer credits. You pay for these in advance, currently the charges for both printing and photocopying are:
