Automatically Configuring Apple iOS - iPhone / iPad / iPod

For Student and Staff (including Exchange E-mail System)

 

Introduction

These instructions will automatically configure WiFi, E-mail, and VPN certificates on Apple iOS

Instructions

  1. Firstly establish an Internet connection on your device. This can be by WiFi, 3G, GPRS, or Edge.

  2. Go to the Home screen and touch Safari.

  3. Touch the URL toolbar and type https://mobileconfig.lboro.ac.uk

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the mobileconfig page and touch the link Click here to continue the process.

  5. You will then be asked to log into the secure website. Touch Name and enter your Active Directory username (the one with which you log on to your University computer), then touch Password and enter your Active Directory password, then finally touch Log In.

  6. Once logged in you will be asked to select which options you would like installed. Select each option you would like installed by touching its setting, then touch Get Settings to progress to the next stage.

    Please choose the features you require.

  7. Next stage will ask to install the selected profiles. Simply touch on Install to automatically install each of the profiles. The install prompt will also state how many times you will need to enter your Active Directory password for installation.

  8. Touch the Install Now button to start verifying the Install Profile.

  9. You will now be asked to enter your Active Directory password up to a maximum of five times depending on how many options you chose in step 6. Touch the Password box and enter your Active Directory password, then touch Next.

  10. Next, if you selected Lboro E-mail (IMAP) in step 6, you will need to enter a description for your e-mail settings on this screen. If not, please continue with step 12.

    Delete IMAP Account (Company Account, and enter a description of what you would like to appear on your account description. This should be your full name.

  11. Next touch the Required box and enter your Active Directory password to configure your incoming mail server, then touch Next.

    Enter your password for the incoming mail server.

    On the next screen you will then be asked to enter your Active Directory password again to configure the outgoing mail server. Follow the same procedure.

  12. Once all passwords have been entered you will finally come to the Profile Installed page. Simply touch on Done and all profiles are now successfully installed.

  13. Finally you will now be returned to a page with further documentation regarding changing and removing the profile, and how to provide us with feedback.
