Edina Digimap ®

Digimap is an Ordnance Survey mapping collection, available for download in a variety of graphic file formats.

Which mapping service should you use?

There are 3 main options for maps:

  1. Classic,

  2. Carto,

  3. Data Download.

(We do not subscribe to the Historic Digimap service)

  1. The easy option is Classic - in 5 clicks you can generate a PDF file (recommended) with correct scale bar, grid and copyright information.

  2. Carto is a little more advanced and runs in a JAVA application. It's slightly more complex but gives you more control over what data you can display. There are some issues with page layout and printing from Carto, so you may find Classic the better option.

  3. Data Download Services has an option called Data Download. This option is more for GIS, CAD, Graphic Design and more advanced users. Data formats are TIFF, NTF and DXF. CHEST provide a utility called mapmanager to convert NFT into ARC, MIF and ERDAS compatible formats.

Other services give you access to boundary data, postcode data and Gazetteers.

All these services have guides and help files available for online viewing or printing - PLEASE use them!
