High Performance Computing
Introduction
The High Performance Computing service provides a parallel computing facility in support of research activity within the University. It is part of the Research Computing Service within IT Services.
The service is comprised of the hydra cluster, running the Red Hat Linux operating system. More details of the system can be found on the Overview page www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hpc/overview.html.
In order to make use of the service, you will first need an account. In order to obtain an account, please follow the instructions on the Apply for Time page at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hpc/guide/apply.html.
Once your account has been created, you should read the User Guide at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hpc/guide/, which describes how to log on to the systems, your user environment, programming for the cluster, and how to submit your jobs to the queue for execution.
Download a tutorial from www.lboro.ac.uk/it/tutorial.pdf for getting started with the High Performance Computing cluster.
Download HPC briefing as given on the 3rd March 2010 from https://internal.lboro.ac.uk/it/uniwide/HPC/HPC%20Briefing.pdf (you will need your university username and password to access this document).
