Registration, Passwords, and De-registration
Student Registration
Registered students of the University are automatically registered for a range of University IT services www.lboro.ac.uk/it/policies/registration.html#list and given a University user name, password, and e-mail address. Undergraduate and Postgraduate students will be able to access these from the Obtaining Credentials web page at www.lboro.ac.uk/welcome/credentials/. Otherwise, please contact the PC Clinic (see www.lboro.ac.uk/it/pcclinic/) or our Service Desk 222333.
Students who wish to use their own computer from a hall of residence must, however, register for this HallNet service www.lboro.ac.uk/it/hallnet/.
Passwords
Staff and Students are advised to change their password regularly. When you receive it or change it, keep it secret to yourself thereafter. Divulging your password to another person (except trusted members of IT staff) is a breach of our Acceptable Use Policy www.lboro.ac.uk/it/policies/loughborough-aup.html. See our further advice on passwords www.lboro.ac.uk/it/doc/student-guidance.html, and details on Changing Passwords https://pass.lboro.ac.uk/.
When we register you, we also provide you with an Athens www.lboro.ac.uk/library/resources/athens.html username and password, which provides access to a variety of nationally provided data sources (Library databases). See also Eduserv Athens User Obligations at www.eduserv.org.uk/lns/agreements/user-obligations.
Check your original Athens password at http://learn.lboro.ac.uk/blocks/staff_student_resources/athpass.php. You must log in after clicking on the link to see your original Athens password. If you change your Athens password then this link will not show you the changed password.
Change your Athens password at http://auth.athensams.net/my/ (you will need your current Athens username and password).

De-Registration
When students are removed from our systems, they will still have access to their e-mail, contacts and documents on the Google system. Their e-mail address will change, but their e-mail data will be transferred over. They will have a new Alumni e-mail address, for example If their student e-mail address is F.J.Bloggs-07@student.lboro.ac.uk, their alumni address will be F.J.Bloggs-07@alumni.lboro.ac.uk. For more information on this exciting new service please see the alumni page at www.lboro.ac.uk/it/google/alumni.html.
When your account is removed from our systems your individual file store is also deleted.
See our further details on deactivation of user accounts www.lboro.ac.uk/it/policies/registration.html#cease.
