Specialist Software

Introduction

This service provides specialist software applications to staff computers and student labs. Most of the applications can be delivered directly to desktops (Windows 7 Service or Labs), while some must be provided on storage media via internal mail. Where a cost is involved, a charge code will be required.

Windows 7 Service

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Select Control Panel and Run Advertised Programs (32 bit)

  3. A list of available programs is displayed

Windows XP

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Go to Settings and then select the Control Panel

  3. Click Add or Remove Programs

  4. Select Add New Programs in the left hand panel.

Software for your own personal computer

Software in Labs

If you would like to request software for any lab(s) on the Windows 7 Service or any Operating System on the Multi-boot iMac Lab Service whether packaged or not, then please use this request form. This request / these requests will be entered into our Servicenow case management system and you will be notified when available. Any software not currently packaged cannot be guaranteed. Please note that you will be required to test new software in the Summer before we can deploy to the whole lab(s).

Labs Software for academic year 2012-2013

The software review takes place between Monday 20th Feb 2012 and Monday 21st May 2012 to determine software requirements in Labs for the following academic year.

Please let us know what software you will require for the coming year by filling in the software request form.

Currently available software will not be installed unless it has been requested, and cannot be guaranteed if it is requested after Monday 21st May.

Please note that you will be required to test new software in the Summer before we can deploy to the whole lab(s).
