PhD student shortlisted for award
Maurice Dungey, a PhD student from the School's Inflammation, Exercise and Metabolism research group, has been shortlisted along with colleagues in the Renal Exercise team at University Hospitals Leicester for the British Medical Journal's 'Sport and Exercise Team of the Year' award. The team is one of just four to make the shortlist, which is a great achievement in itself. Maurice is co-supervised by Dr Lettie Bishop and Dr David Stensel.

Mothers still important to stop teens skipping mealtimes
Research led by Dr Natalie Pearson from School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, has charted the eating habits and influences of more than 3000 Australian adolescents aged 12 to 15. Findings show that maternal, as well as peer, behaviours can affect whether adolescents skip meals.

World Congress on Active Ageing - deadline for abstract submission approaching
In August this year the BHF National Centre (based at Loughborough University) will co-host the eighth ISAPA World Congress on Active Ageing with Glasgow Caledonian University. The Congress will attract a world-wide community of researchers, policy makers and practitioners with an interest in active ageing and will be held in Glasgow.
Delegates are invited to submit abstracts for either oral and/or poster presentation to the Congress.
