SoRG - Sociology Research Group |
Sociology research group brings together staff and students in the Department of Social Sciences as well as in other departments at Loughborough University that take a “sociological” perspective on research. The research interests of the group are broad, but many of us are world-leading experts in innovative qualitative methodologies, such as visual ethnography, ethnography and multi-sited studies. Topically the group has interests in nationalisms, migration, media culture, gender, health, globalisation, social movements and social theory/history. Our research also seeks to have an impact on public policy and social life and engages with other disciplines, such as arts, science, engineering and medicine. The group organises the MSc in Cultural Sociology and provides a home for postgraduate and research students in sociology. We also organise a regular seminar-series, the title of 2009-2010 series is “Public Scholarship and Social Intervention.” If you are interested in the group or studying with us, please contact us. For inquiries on MSc in Cultural Sociology please contact Dr Karen O’Reilly for general and seminar-related inquiries contact Dr Paula Saukko or any individual members of the group. |
