The Graduate School is a relatively new University wide initiative that deals with primarily academic matters relating to postgraduate research as well as taught students.  The School has helped formulate the following guidelines for staff and their supervisees:

Regulations for Higher Degrees by Research
These cover University rules governing the award of postgraduate research degrees.

Code of Practice for Research Degrees
These review University advice concerning the registration, progression, supervision and examination of postgraduate research students.

Code of Practice Appendices
This selection of documents primarily relates to issues such as intellectual property; fees; termination of studies; and the submission procedure.

Postgraduate Research Student Training
These links provide advice to new and existing students and their supervisors covering induction procedures, requirements, transferable skills and relevant programmes.

The Research Student Office is the division of the University Registry that deals with primarily administrative matters and procedures relating to postgraduate research students. The Office helps Departments manage the recruitment/registration, progression and examination processes and helps produce several useful forms and guidelines:

Annual Report on Progress which should be completed after every panel and supplemented by a statement explaining the outcome of the meeting.

Other University forms relating to submission, progression (including suspension) and examination can be downloaded from the Registry template shop .

Advice for staff on admissions entitled Good Practice Guide on Research Student Recruitment is also available in the form of a downloadable pdf from the Research Student Office .
