You've been to lectures, read through your lecture notes, read the recommended text, tried the problems and are still stuck? Not to worry; there are many places you can turn to:
Academic problems
- Physics Resource Centre (Room W2.75). This facility has reference books, self-learning material from the Flexible Learning Approach to Physics (mostly relevant to Part A and Foundation physics), videos of experiments and six networked PCs with useful software. It is staffed by a postgraduate student on Wednesdays during term time from 10.00am to 12.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm, who will help Part A and Foundation students. Please note that the facility is for Physics students only; do not give the keypad number to anyone else.
- Mathematics Learning Support Centre (Room W1.42). This facility provides mathematical assistance to the entire University, and is staffed five days a week in the teaching year.
- Of course, you can always ask the lecturer during or after a lecture, or call in to the department If the lecturer is not in, email them to make an appointment.
- Ask (in Part A) your Academic Tutor in a tutorial.
- Ask other students in your year (but not for help with your coursework).
