Introduction
The Water and Waste Management group comprises the water engineering staff and the Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) and forms a team that is well positioned to respond to international opportunities.
Key areas for the Water and Waste Management group include:
- New water recycling for droughts
- Development of river models to predict the impact of intense rainfall on water flows and flooding
- Better biotechnology to reduce carbon emissions from waste
- Development of models to predict soil and carbon losses resulting from climate change
- New procedures and appropriate technology to improve the efficiency of water use and waste treatment in the developing world
We have internationally recognised research into biofuels from wastes, and our achievements in addressing the global problems of solids waste management, flooding and erosion, and the provision of water supplies are outlined on the Research Themes page.
